7 Indonesian on 2008 TopCoder Open
2008 TCO Finalist Brackets are Announced!Announcing the 120 finalists for the 2008 TopCoder Open! Through the hard work, sweat, creativity, fast fingers, sleep deprivation and determination by the best of the best, the field has been narrowed down. See who you’ll be cheering for!
Sorry if I am being late to announced this, but the final lists has been wrapped. It’s official that 7 (seven) Indonesian are going to join their 120 wordwide fellows to compete in the prestigious competition held by TopCoder, Inc, in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 11 – 15, 2008.
Included in those lucky seven is me, yes—I am being lucky twice (including joined last year TCO and TCC), joining the most populated Indonesian competitors ever, 5 out of 12, in the creative competition of Studio Design Championship. As Studio competitors, they will compete on three phases of contest held on two days at The Mirage Hotel. The best of the best scored during the contest will grabbing first prize cash of $20,000 (total prize amount is $45,000). Huge prize of course, that’s why I was very stressed to imagine how much money is it. I ranked #5 among the final advancers, with other Indonesian, including are: abedavera, last year TCCC champion grabbing $15,000 prize; djackmania, new this year but showing his shiny creative talents; Tricia, currently studying design at Singapore’s NAFTA; and sweetpea, which until now unable to be contacted by me. Two Indonesian got placed 12 top rank was unable to get their proper travel, so they was failed to join us.
As you might knew, on Algorithm Competition, we had ardiankp, twice Google Code Jam India winner accumulated score of 2878 and stay on #34 rank list. Congratulations, Ardian! He is the only Indonesian algorithm competitor on TCO. The Algorithm Competition will award prizes to up to 300 competitors participating in Online Round 3 and $70,000 in cash prizes to the competitors who compete in the Onsite Rounds. The first place finisher (Champion) will get $15,000.
Of course, we also had enefem21 on Component Competition in Development track. He grabbed 47 points, that’s enough to get 12 top leaderboard, he also ranked as #8. The Component Competition will award $120,000 in cash prizes, with $60,000 being awarded for each competition (Design & Development). The first place finisher will grab $25,000 to home.
Look forward to seeing Vegas next May. Really excited. I hoped I get a chance to report about it, not like past events. See, getting connection and proper blogging time is not easy. GPRS international roaming is really not cheap, and because I would not planning to bring my laptop, write a blog post via my Samsung i600 is probably inconvenient.
Well, let’s see.
